Group Meeting: During Group Meeting today, the children learned that the King or Queen for the day (snack person) will also have some helper jobs to do. The King or Queen will put a sticker on our 10 frame chart to help us count the number of days that we are in school. He or she will also hold the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance and be our line leader.
Story: The story for today was Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni. Little Blue and Little Yellow were best friends. They liked to play together. One day, Little Blue was searching for Little Yellow, but couldn't find him. When he did find him, he hugged him. As they were hugging, they turned green. When they returned home, their parents did not recognize them. It made them sad. Ask your child to tell you what happened next.
Small Groups: During this time, the children visited the Housekeeping Area and the Block Area to learn about the toys and rules for that area. They also visited the Art Table to see all of the items available for them to use.
Large Group: The children were introduced to Max and Zoey (puppets). Max and Zoey told them about how to find a seat on the carpet and stay in that seat so that they don't trip other children. After that, the children went to the Outdoor Classroom to play.
Snacks: The children had Nutrigrain Bars and apple juice.
I didn't have any time to take pictures today (imagine that). I don't take as many as Mrs. Whiteman, if your child was here last year. We're usually pretty busy, but I will do what I can!

Welcome to School!
I thought that the children did very well on our first day of school. There will be lots of things for us to learn. We are off to a great start.
Story: Our story today was What Color is Your Underwear? by Sam Lloyd. This is a fun book about colors. Ask your child to tell you what color of underwear the elephant was wearing. Oops!
Tomorrow, we will include small groups, snack time, and outdoor play to the activities that we did today. I'll fill you in on everything that we do!
Thank you, grown-ups, for taking the time to come with your child today. It gets us off to a good start!

I'm ready for school to start!
Hello!
I think you will easily be able to guess my location today. I am at my favorite place to be when I am not at home. I drive here in my car and go home every day when I am finished. I like to read books, play with children, and eat snacks when I am here. Where am I today?
I am at preschool. It is my favorite place to be. I know that you will enjoy coming to school as well. I am ready for you to come. I will see you tomorrow!

A busy weekend!
Hello! I was at one of my favorite places over the weekend and thought I would share that with you. Let's see if you can guess where I am in this picture. It may be a little tricky. I was with my son. He was riding the vehicle in the picture. He went really fast. I was a little nervous watching him. Can you guess where I am in this picture?
I am at a race track. My son races motorcycles. His name is Rayce. I went to watch him. My daughter also races motorcycles, but she races dirt bikes. So, we spend a lot of time at race tracks. I enjoy watching them have fun.
Mrs. Hoogheem and I had a lot of fun on our home visits last week. It was nice to see everyone.

Where am I today?
Hello, again. Today I am posting another picture of me in one of my favorite places. Let me give you a few clues. This is a place that has lots of books. I can take some of the books home to read, but I have to return them. I can also get movies and music here. Where I am?
I am at the library. I love to go to the library to get books to read. I hope that you enjoy books, too. We will be reading some of my favorites when we are at preschool. Maybe you can tell me the name of your favorite book.
Check again next Monday to see me in another one of my favorite places.

Hello!
Hello! I am getting excited about starting school in a few weeks. I hope that you are too. I want to let you know a few things about myself. Then, when school starts, you will feel like you already know me.
I thought that I would take a picture of myself in my favorite places. I'll give you some clues and you can try to guess where I am. Take a look at this picture. I eat most of my meals here. I sleep here. Can you tell where I am?
I am at my home. I live out in the country, just a few miles north of DeWitt. I live with my husband, Mr. Christiansen. I have two children that are grown-ups, Rayce and Renee. I have cat named Marvin who lives in the house with us and five ducks that live outside in their own house. I can tell you the names of my ducks when I see you at school.
